About Us

Built from the journey
we once had to navigate alone.

Admission is a defining moment. It is also only the beginning.

Domestic and international graduate students face the same fundamental transition: turning an academic opportunity into a stable life around school. International students navigate the additional complexity of visa timing and cross border logistics, but every student must make important decisions about housing, finances, arrival, transportation, routines, and community.

CASA was built so graduate students would have a real place to turn as those decisions begin to shape their lives.

Admission opens the door.
Real life begins on the other side.

Connected Decisions

Budget, housing, commute, arrival, and daily routines are deeply connected. Each decision shapes how prepared and supported a student feels from day one.

Beyond Campus

Universities provide essential academic and student support. CASA complements that foundation by helping students navigate the practical realities of building life beyond campus.

Global Complexity

International students must also coordinate visa timing, cross border logistics, housing, finances, and arrival planning, while managing these decisions from abroad.

One Consistent Guide

Students receive many links, referrals, and instructions. CASA connects the pieces and provides clear guidance on what comes next.

CASA was created to become that support layer.

Two perspectives, one recurring gap

CASA was founded in Boston

Two people who lived the same transition from opposite sides of it — and kept running into the same gap.

Co-Founder

Adi Pathak

Adi first understood the graduate transition by living it as an international graduate student. He later spent more than a decade working across higher education, international student pathways, institutional partnerships, and student success.

Through conversations with thousands of students each year, he watched the same pattern repeat. Students had earned admission to strong graduate programs, but many were still trying to make sense of the practical decisions surrounding that opportunity. The information often existed, but it was scattered across offices, websites, providers, timelines, and conversations. Students were expected to connect it while making consequential decisions from a distance.

Co-Founder

Gillian Dunn

Gillian brought a different but deeply connected perspective and faced the same difficulties studying abroad as a domestic student. Her experience across real estate, housing, hospitality, partnerships, and community building showed her that receiving keys and feeling at home are not the same outcome.

As a licensed Massachusetts real estate salesperson, she understood the realities of navigating the Boston housing market. Her hospitality experience brought an equally important standard to CASA: students should feel recognized, advocated for, and welcomed into a community, not processed through a transaction.

Together, Adi and Gillian saw that domestic and international students were not navigating two entirely different journeys. Both were trying to build stable lives around graduate school.

One journey, supported through every stage.

PREPARING

Students build clarity around timing, living costs, funding resources, housing, roommates, transportation, and what to expect. International students also coordinate visa related timing with the rest of the plan.

ARRIVING

Students navigate transportation, move in, banking, mobile service, groceries, furnishings, neighborhood orientation, and the practical work of establishing a new routine.

BUILDING A LIFE

Students develop trusted local relationships, participate in community, discover useful resources, and have someone to turn to as new questions arise throughout the academic year.

Students do not need more links.

They need context, coordination, and a real person who can help them move forward.

Academic success becomes much harder when the rest of a student’s life feels unstable. CASA combines useful technology and trusted resources with something that cannot be automated: human judgment, reassurance, accountability, and local presence.
